Knife Box

This special kit box can be customized to the shape and number of the items that are to be stored.
The body of this made-to-order box is constructed from paulownia wood, which has long been used in Japan to store precious possessions.
The guide rails for the sliding tiers are cut from apple wood acquired from orchards local to Hirosaki in Aomori, the top apple growing prefecture of Japan.
Designed by architect Keiji Ashizawa, the iron handle comes crafted by the artisans of a local ironsmith shop with over one thousand years of history.

This item has been exhibited at the Maison & Objet, a world renowned interior design trade fair. It has also been published in international interior design magazine, Wallpaper*, receiving high recognition worldwide.
